The automotive supplier Rhodius is building a second plant at its Laage site in the Rostock district. For the newly established "Welding Technology Solutions" business unit, the Rhodius Group is investing a double-digit million sum in machinery and equipment. Rhodius has been successfully operating in Laage for over 25 years. The geostrategic location and the close proximity to important customers as well as to cooperation partners such as the Fraunhofer Institute Rostock and the Schweißtechnische Lehranstalt (SLV) Rostock encouraged the company to establish the new business unit here as well. The official groundbreaking could take place in the spring of 2022 after the final building permit was submitted. This meant that the hall could be occupied as early as 2022 and the pre-series production of lightweight metal assemblies for the automotive industry could start.
