Liebherr is a quality and technology leader in the manufacture of cranes and handling equipment for maritime applications. In 2005, Liebherr commissioned an additional production facility for the manufacture of large-dimension maritime cranes and components on the German Baltic coast in the port area of Rostock. Thanks to its seaport, the Rostock site offers very good logistical conditions for the distribution of large-volume products and plays an important role in the further growth and strengthening of the international market position of the maritime division. The company management already recognized and utilized the high level of training of the workforce in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the existing company locations in Austria. Today, almost all employees in Rostock, from the gatekeepers to the plant managers, are from the region. This guarantees loyalty and low fluctuation. Today, around 1,700 people work at Liebherr in Rostock.
