Within the BIOTRONIK Group, CORTRONIK in Rostock-Warnemünde is the competence center for the development and production of stents, i.e. vessel-supporting tubes used in medicine. In this sub-sector, BIOTRONIK is one of the market leaders in several countries and has, among other things, developed the first biodegradable metal stent. The company, founded in 1998 in the Warnemünde Technology Center, now has around 200 employees - most of them in the high-tech R&D area. CORTRONIK works very closely in research with research institutes in the state, especially with the University of Rostock.
